WIN yourself a Hometown Holiday
A new initiative encouraging locals to experience their city like a tourist is being launched this week. Developed by the University of Newcastle and City of Newcastle Hometown Holiday is all about raising the awareness of, and encouraging locals to engage with tourism businesses that are on our doorstep.
Funded by the City of Newcastle City Taskforce Industry Response Program the initiative was aimed at providing economic recovery for industries most impacted by the pandemic.
The best part is, 100 Newcastle residents will WIN a $500 voucher to spend at the participating Hometown Holiday businesses.

To help get you exploring five Hometown Holidaymakers itineraries have been created that feature some of Newcastle’s well-established and emerging tourism products. You'll be able to experience your city from all angles with more than 70 participating local cafes, shops, hotels, bars, and restaurants at which you can redeem your voucher at.
Hometown Holiday is not only about promoting travel within our backyard but also contributing to the longer-term impacts that promise to shape the future of the local tourism industry.
Newcastle is well-known as a business tourism destination, but when it comes to leisure activities we often kept the best of Newcastle for ourselves, reluctant to share just how good we have it. Now it's time we supported local businesses from your local café, bakery and bistro to some of those local attractions and experiences that you've always wanted to visit.
More than that, we need to invite our family and friends to explore our wonderful city and experience venues we only talk about, but never actually share. Now is the time to get out and about, and experience your city through the eyes of a tourist, and take a Hometown Holiday.
