Have your say on the future of Newcastle's Foreshore Park

Over the past year City of Newcastle sought community feedback to create a world-class harbourside parkland featuring an inclusive playspace.

Feedback found that the community loves the wide paths and harbour views but would like to see more trees and shade, picnic areas, and pop-up events and activations in the area, as well improved amenities and cycling provisions. When it comes to the inclusive play space, the community values areas for different age groups, climbing and challenging play, and sensory, quiet and nature play areas.

City of Newcastle has listened to the feedback and has been working hard to develop a preliminary concept and now you’re invited to have your say.

The preliminary concept for Foreshore Park features the inclusive ‘Livvi’s Place’ playspace which is being delivered in partnership with Variety - the Children’s Charity. The preliminary concept also sees larger green lawn spaces, a new water play space, heritage interpretation with a cultural walk that represents Newcastle’s story, and a designated space for riding scooters and skateboards.

Whether you plan trips to Foreshore Park for social gatherings, with your children, or for exercise, City of Newcastle wants to hear from you.

How to have your say:

  • A drop-in information session is being held at Civic Park on, Saturday 20 February 2021, between 10am and 1pm. This is your chance to learn more about the vision for the Harbour Foreshore, speak to the project team and view the plans.
  • View the preliminary concept and have your say from 16 February to 5 March 2021 via the online mapping tool Here

Your thoughts and ideas will help finalise the draft masterplan, which will be placed on public exhibition for further community feedback later in 2021 before it is finalised.
