Bowls, karaoke, bar and dodgem cars!
If you remember the days of hanging out in the alleyways of SuperStrike Tenpin Bowling at Warners Bay, or still do, then you’re going to be psyched to hear that its had a massive refurb, and it's about 1000% better!
Run by brothers Brett, Brad, Bryce and Heath George, the family founded SuperStrike tenpin bowling centres and continue to own and operate the Salamander Bay and Maitland centres. The feeling amongst the guys was, however, that the Warners Bay location had the potential to expand into something much bigger and better, with the idea being to create a venue that was fun for all ages, with a whole bunch of attractions under the one roof.
The idea was to include not only Tenpin Bowling and a huge arcade area with prize redemption but an American-inspired diner with in-house chefs, dodgem cars, outdoor mini-golf and 18+ bar called Barcadia featuring retro arcade games, a pool room and adults-only karaoke.
It all developed around the concept of a place to escape the everyday grind and have a good time no matter how old you are. It’s a place where you can switch off and have some good old-fashioned fun.
The name's quite unique, how did it come about?
It plays on the old saying ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’. It expresses an idea that fun is not just a privilege but is something important in maintaining general wellbeing, which then evolved into the slogan for the company of ‘Less Work More Play’.
How do you describe the overall style of Dullboy’s Social Co.?
Retro with a contemporary twist. There are a lot of attractions in the one venue, so it was crucial that the branding and interior design elements spoke to one another and that each space reflected the fun ethos of the brand and oozed ‘good times’.
What can we expect on a visit to Dullboy’s Social Co.?
Customers of all ages can expect to have a fun time, be in the moment and connect with friends and family over a game of bowling, mini golf or a round of Down The Clowns. They can enjoy a tasty meal prepared by the in-house chefs and a signature Dullboy’s shake or cocktail from the bar.
What about the food and drink side of things?
Dullboy’s Social Co. has three food offerings:
The Canteen, which offers lane service, All-Press coffee and quick, grab and go food items prepared by the in-house chefs.
The Diner; a designer restaurant with a creative menu of American classics with a modern-Australian twist dreamed up by our head chef Deane Joyce. Menu favourites include the Taco Salad Bowl, Southern Fried Schnitty and low and slow meats like brisket available on weekends as well as signature burgers, pizzas and waffle fries.
Barcadia; an 18+ bar which is an adult’s playground of retro arcades, a pool room and karaoke room. Signature cocktails include a banana old-fashioned, On Like Donkey Kong and a Chambord Sour, Ms Pacman. Get messy with Jamaican Spiced BBQ wings with sticky mango sauce, or be fancy with chorizo, prawn and chimichurri sliders.
