Today we take you inside the Islington home of Sammy from vintage boutique Stoned Saint Moon
and her fiancé Joseph. And lets not forget their two gorgeous dogs, Mima and Teddy, who adorably thought that this photoshoot was all about them, these
photogenic pooches were pouting and working the camera like absolute divas.
Sammy’s boutique Stoned Saint Moon, is a vintage clothing shop specialising in colourful, bright and affordable clothing, “Everything is pretty much vintage,
specifically 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, we love true vintage but obviously it’s hard to find it in ok condition because it’s been around for decades,” Sammy
explained. Stoned Saint Moon is a vintage lover’s delight, with such a unique selection of old and new home furnishings, jewellery and high end fashion
Much like Sammy and Joseph’s home, which is kind of an extension of her boutique, filled with kitsch, cutesy, vintage finds and fashions. Located just
a stone’s throw from the boutique this weatherboard Islington home is a retro inner city hideaway, a world away from the busy street outside.
It’s an Aladdin’s cave of colour, texture and collections, from racks of vintage clothes, shelves of troll dolls, psychedelic wallpaper and kitsch wall
Sammy and Joseph have been living here for just two months and in that time Sammy has gone about transforming this home with her style, it’s an extension
of her personality and vintage boutique. She has even taken over the spare room with her colourful collection of clothes and shoes, including a pair
of green studded platform boots and a sparkly pink bomber jacket, I would expect nothing less from a vintage clothes devotee.
As Sammy explained, “Joseph has a very different style to me, so I’ve had to tone it down heaps since being together…I’ve especially had to tone
down the pinks.” An example of this is the masculine, den-like living room that Sammy has created with a dark velour 1970s lounge suite, wooden sideboard
and manly wall hangings. This is in direct contrast to the lime green kitchen which screams kitsch and playful or the dining room which features a
woven wall hanging of the last supper.
Their two pups, Mima and Teddy are so adorable, we can’t stop taking photos of them. One of Sammy’s favourite things to do is dress the dogs up, today
Mima is wearing a rocker patched up denim jacket from Pet Haus, she looks so damn tough!
Originally from Sydney, Sammy moved to Newcastle about two years ago and she loves it here, “I just love treasure hunting so I am always on the lookout”.
From Gumtree, the markets and garage sales she is always scouting around for new treasures from the 60’s through to the 90’s at the latest, “I just
love old things…I do lots of revamps to old stuff”.
Sammy’s style may be eclectically retro, but she has shown restraint in this home, dividing it into zones and styling each room with a theme colour or
hero piece. It is no doubt quirky, but not overwhelming in the slightest.
