Coffee, cakes, cookies and cupcakes on King Street
The most popular item is the peanut and salted caramel brownies - with a delicious thick salted caramel layer squashed between two brownies. Easily the best sandwich ever!See our handpicked guides to Newcastle
On our most recent outing to Hello Naomi, on Newcastle's King St, at a quick glance not a lot seems to have changed from our first visit some 18 months ago. Owner Naomi Henderson has created such a beautifully presented boutique cake studio complete with cutesy pastel stools, minimalist décor and as we eagerly anticipated, an exquisitely displayed collection of delicious cakes, wedding cakes, cupcakes, slices and cookies.
The sweets are what take centre stage there's no doubt, and with so many pretty and delicious sights to soak up it is easy to overlook just how serious Naomi and her team take their tea and coffee. Using beans from Small Batch Roasters in Melbourne and tea from Storm in a Tea Cup, both caffeinated drops are perfected matched with the cakes and cookies.
With her two ranges of cakes: buttercream cakes and specialty cakes, there is more choice than ever. Along with her seasonally changing menu throughout the year, giving you every excuse to celebrate special occasions with cake - and why not!
I personally can't go past the handmade ginormous honey jumbles, paired with a pot of early grey. Don't let the cutesy exterior fool you, Hello Naomi is one of the tastiest experiences you'll discover and with Naomi's constantly evolving range of cookies, cakes and cupcakes you'll be finding yourself becoming a regular.
