Is life too busy to cook dinner tonight? After a wholesome homestyle meal? Or want some good quality takeaway lunch? Head into Wickham’s new cafe; Happi Kitchen.
Owner Rosa has been working in this industry for as long as she can remember. Opening Oscars out in the Hunter Valley in 2002, then in 2014 opening the doors to Happi Chicken in Kurri Kurri and has just recently opened Happi Kitchen; an expansion from the Happi Chicken concept.
The family focussed cafe that Rosa has created is a favourite in Kurri and no doubt sure to be a new favourite to the locals in Wickham and surrounds.
“What I wanted to do here, was to take Happi Chicken, expand it and give something to the families here in Newcastle,” Rosa told me.
The entire focus behind Happi Kitchen is to provide time-poor families with wholesome, homestyle meals that will be leaving the whole family full for days.
“I’m not reinventing the wheel; I’m not trying to deconstruct anything. I’m just trying to deliver fresh, wholesome and affordable food.
“I understand time poor. You might have just taken the kids to soccer training and it’s already 6/7 o’clock by the time you get home, and you haven’t even thought about dinner. Get on the app, order it and we’ll deliver.”
Currently delivering to Wickham, Maryville, Carrington, Islington, Tighes Hill, Newcastle West and Cooks Hill. But keep an eye on the app, Rosa plans on expanding their delivery areas!
The menu covers all the needs and wants of every eater out there. With burgers, schnitzels, wraps, salads, and toasties, as well as meal packs filled with barbeque chicken and all the trimmings you could want!
On one side of the space, you can spot the damper corner that is stocked daily with freshly made damper and two pizza ovens sit over in the corner, which will be serving up some of the finest pizzas in Wickham!
Head to the back of the cafe and peek into the cabinet to be teased with the most scrumptious looking cheesecakes you may well have ever seen! There’s Malteser, Tim Tam, strawberries and cream; just to name a few.
These cheesecakes are well worth the visit just for the Instagram post. #YUM
“The cakes really are the icing on the cake here!”
If you are someone that likes tasting something a little different, ask the team for a bottle of WTF, Wasabi Tonic Fizz. It’s not what at all what you’ll expect.
Rosa has also started a kid’s only club card, think coffee cards but for milkshakes and other kid-friendly favourites! The kids can come along and hang out in their own kid-corner and have a ‘coffee catch-up’ of their own.
So, let’s go back to the basics and enjoy a meal, a beverage or a cheesecake here at Happi Kitchen in Wickham.
