Lucas, originally from France, noticed when travelling the need for a place where you can hang out, use Wi-Fi and not have the pressure to have to buy something. Oh, how I can relate! Buying the cheapest thing on the menu just so I could sit there and use their Wi-Fi was a regular occurrence for me when travelling.
And while there is no pressure to buy anything, the coffee and doughnuts are so affordable, I'm sure the Uni students will be making their way here very soon!
The dimmed lighting creates a comfortable and relaxed mood, completely decked out with recycled wood Lucas collected and found for free.
With a turntable in the centre of the room, customers are invited to buy a record or simply give one a spin themselves.
However, it was the doughnut bar that had my full attention from the moment I walked in. All you have to do is a grab a doughnut and add any glaze or toppings you want…YUM!
Although not a coffee drinker himself, Lucas had help from the guys at Portafilter to train and set him up with the filter coffee. For 3 bucks you simply head over to the bench and pour yourself a cuppa. And for the few other non-coffee drinkers out there, tea is also available.
Local artists are also encouraged to display their work and contribute to the décor of Glazed Bar. This is definitely one to check out for yourself.
