Since its inception in early 2019, the Sandgate-based Newcastle Food & Flower Markets have become a destination for all things, floral, food, and fun related. Continuing their constant adaption to the area’s needs, the team have recently launched their newest offering, giving food and wine lovers another reason to head to Sandgate.

Taking over the restaurant space from mid-October, the new Wine & Fromage space brings together all the delicious and tasty offerings that we local foodies are constantly on the lookout for.

Featuring both a divine range of foodie goods, as well as an amazing beverage offering, the Wine & Fromage space at Newcastle Food & Flower Markets is an absolute must-visit for local foodies and visitors alike.

Working with the locally based sommelier, Stephane of SOM, the wine offering features a bunch of favourites from our very own Hunter Valley, including Usher Tinkler, Tempus Two, Tamburlaine, and McGuigan, as well as some wines from further afar.

Upon arriving, visitors can create their own grazing board choosing from the expansive range of Fromage, salumi, house-made appetizers, and even dessert!

The Fromage offering includes cheese from Italy, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom covering Gorgonzola, Truffle Pecorino, Manchego, Parmigiano Reggiano, Truffled Cheddar, Camembert, and more.

The Salumi offering includes delicious tastings of Prosciutto Di Parma, Free Range Mortadella, Puopolo Casalingo Mild Salumi, and Balzanelli Fennel and Chilli Salumi.

Onto the appetizers, the Newcastle Food & Flower Markets team makes all of these in-house and are perfect if you’re looking for something that little more filling. Choose from the Mushroom and White Wine Arancini; Pumpkin, Feta, and Thyme Arancini; Empanadas with Chimichurri; Burrata Salad; or Chorizo and Haloumi.

Up for dessert is the crowd favourite Lemon Curd Tart complete with vanilla bean mascarpone and topped with berries; delicious!

Whilst you’re sitting back and enjoying your Wine and Fromage experience, let your eyes wander around the space and take in all of the products available to take home with you. From the charcoal crispbread, extensive Beerenberg range, regal honey, and Drunken Sailor preserves, to Mudgee’s High Valley Cheese, Barossa Valley Cheese Co. goods, and even their own in-house products such as caramel sauce, lemon curd, and semi-sundried tomatoes!
