Bare Chefs

New menu items + extended hours + a HUNTERhunter discount

It’s been a little over eight months since a rather new concept for grab n’ go dining arrived in Newcastle, with Bare Chefs emerging onto the culinary scene as a beacon of innovation. We caught up with the owners, brothers George and Matt Mirosevich to hear all about the Bare Chefs journey so far and what’s to come for the brand.

Located along Honeysuckle Drive, right in the heart of corporate Newcastle, Bare Chefs has quickly built a strong reputation for its chef-quality meals. Reflecting on their business journey, the brothers shared their early aspirations, and why there’s been a few changes since the original opening.

“When we first opened, we thought this was the perfect business model, we imagined there would be lines out the door because everyone would want our meals.”

However, the turnout was far from their expectations, leading to a realisation of the improvements needed in their offering. Rather than being discouraged, the duo embraced the feedback, using it as a catalyst for the brand’s growth.

“In just eight months, we’ve revamped our menu, store layout, hours, container sleeves, and even experimented with coffee offerings.”

One of the standout successes has been the introduction of the Bare Essentials range, a collection of meals tailored to health-conscious individuals. Featuring six meals that have between 250-400 calories, the meals include Clean Chicken, Eye Fillet Bowl, Asian Salmon (Matt’s personal favourite), Spicy Chicken, Satay Chicken (George’s personal favourite), and Teriyaki Eggplant.

“This addition not only attracted a surge in pre-orders and in-store activity but also showcased Bare Chef’s commitment to meeting customer demands.”

Understanding the diverse needs of their clientele, Bare Chefs adjusted their store hours and introduced late-night delivery options. This flexibility has made their delicious meals accessible to everyone, regardless of their schedules.

“We changed our in-store hours to 10am-7pm. This has allowed people to stop by and grab dinner on their way home from work. We also added late-night delivery options, so we can drop your pre-orders at your home between 6pm-8pm, which has been extremely popular.”

With a focus on wanting to educate their customers on the quality of their meals in comparison to the typical cryovac meals you’ll find in the big grocery stores, the pair have started making content on their Instagram as a way to communicate the Bare Chefs difference.

“We show side-by-side comparisons of our meals vs. the typical cryovac reheat meals and so far, we have had a brilliant response.”

Looking ahead, Bare Chefs teased about exciting plans in the works, hinting,

“We have just been away for the past eight weeks across NSW preparing something for everyone and it will be coming out later this year. We can’t give anything away just yet, but we can assure you, when you see it, you’ll know what we’re talking about.”
