After a short hiatus during Newcastle’s covid-lockdown, one of Newcastle’s go-to eateries, Signal Box has reopened with their unique takeaway menu here to delight your Friday and Saturday evenings.

It’s been five weeks since we last had the opportunity to get our hands on the unique flavours available at this incredible joint, and at last, we can enjoy their goods once more!

Initially, the talented crew behind Signal Box had decided this time around was an opportunity for them to reset and re-evaluate the business plan, but with the continuation of restrictions, it was a no-brainer for the local favourite to open back up.

“It takes quite a lot of work to pivot from normal dine-in to takeaway, and we didn’t want to make that change if it was only going to be for a short time. As the weeks have progressed, it has become obvious that we aren’t likely to get out of lockdown early, hence our decision to move to takeaway. Plus, we are getting bored at home and are ready to get back into the kitchen,” Owner, Andrew Macdonald said.

Opening only for takeaway on Friday and Saturday evenings, the Signal Box menu will be updated with new flavours on offer every week. With both Chefs,  Dan James and George Mirosevich working on the takeaway menu over the last few weeks as well as planning for the Signal Box Spring menu once dine-in reopens, the Signal Box flavours are once more available to us all.

“Initially for takeaway, we will start with a menu based on our existing menu; think crowd favourites like our Pukara Estate Lamb Ribs and our Hervey Bay Scallops. As the guys have more time together back in the kitchen, they will be experimenting with new flavours and techniques that you will see in our upcoming menus.

“We have also kept our much-loved kid's options as well, making sure that the whole family can enjoy Signal Box at home!”

In addition to ordering all the foodie favourites available for takeaway, diners can also browse their alcoholic beverages menu which will feature a condensed wine menu as well as a bunch of signature Signal Box cocktails.

“The layout of our takeaway menu is much like our a la carte menu in that our guests can make it what they want – one course or five, the menu is adaptable and will suit everyone!”
