We first caught up with the wonderful team behind Raymond Terrace’s Riverhouse Café just after their opening in late Jan last year and whilst 2020 was a wild year, the riverside venue has been a local favourite all whilst consistently topping the list of HUNTERhunter’s favourite articles (coming in at number six for the whole of 2020)!
To celebrate the New Year and their first birthday, the team are looking back on the year that was and making some noise about their big plans for the year ahead! From a big birthday bash to the launch of some exciting new projects, keep reading to learn more about Riverhouse Café’s plans for 2021.
It’s been a year since you’ve first opened your doors, you’ve been thrown into operating during a worldwide pandemic amongst the usual teething problems opening a new business; overall, how has the year been?
“Opening a new business is challenging enough let alone opening a new business during a pandemic. We opened and were still finding our groove when COVID-19 arrived and we were forced to close almost overnight. It was absolutely shattering.
“Not long after Victoria and I opened the business for a second time and have built it back to where it is today. We now have a solid team of staff and a trio of chefs including brothers Dylan and Daniel and their best mate Wyatt in the Kitchen creating delicious fresh food. Our favourite dishes being the Salt and Pepper Squid Salad or you can’t go wrong with an Eggs Benedict. The trio also make a selection of homemade fresh cakes and muffins daily,” Kate said.
Looking to the new year, the Riverhouse team are excited to be back open and get into bringing their usual community-focussed vibes back to town. Kicking things off with their first birthday with a party happening on Sunday 31st January. Keep an eye on their socials as more info is coming but expect plenty of birthday cake, games, specials and of course; entertainment!
“We are also so excited to announce that soon you will be able to come to the Riverhouse and enjoy a champagne with your lunch or breakfast on our stunning open-air deck overlooking the Hunter River and farmlands. We’ll also have a selection of wines and craft beers for you to enjoy with your friends during a long lunch.”
If you’re looking for a function or event space, Riverhouse Café is also now taking on bookings for all your party plans! If it’s the food you’re really after, the team in the kitchen are also using their kitchen creativity to bring you catering options.
With plenty more plans leading into the new year for Riverhouse Café, all we can say is watch this space. The Raymond Terrace space may just be topping the HUNTERhunter list once more!
