Time flies when you’re having fun (and eating cheese) – 10 whole years in fact, for Mayfield’s Pork Ewe Deli. Congratulations are in order for the artisan European deli, who is celebrating a decade in business this year with a delicious 10-week lineup of events and specials.

From the return of the deli’s fabled baguettes to an exclusive cheese masterclass, here’s a taste of what’s happening for the birthday celebrations.

Baguettes are back

If you’re a longtime Pork Ewe fan, you’ll no doubt remember the deli’s loaded baguette sandwiches from its former Darby Street location. 

Well, owner Sam Glover is bringing them back for a limited time only to celebrate Pork Ewe’s 10th birthday. 

Expect fillings like comte, saucisson, and cornichon or French butter with plenty of shaved jamon Serrano. Looks like lunch for the next few weeks is sorted!

Meet the makers

Pork Ewe’s free in-store tasting series is back, where you can sample, meet, and greet local producers and suppliers. Here’s the lineup:

- August 3: Glover Wines & Kanguri Honey

- August 17: FogHorn Brewery & Hungerford Meat Co.

- August 31: De Iuliis Wines & Harvest Party Preserves

- September 14: Vamp Wines by Lisa McGuigan

No bookings needed – simply rock up and get stuck into tastings from 11am-3.30pm.

Become a cheese master

Sam has selected her top 10 cheeses of all time, and is sharing all her cheese-nerd knowledge with you at this intimate 8-person masterclass. You’ll walk away with plenty of new cheese tidbits up your sleeve (not literally!) and a full belly thanks to the included cheese tasting with complimentary wine.

A long lunch birthday bash

It wouldn’t be a birthday with a party, and Pork Ewe is hosting its bash at Ravella on September 29 to mark the end of all the festivities. 

Expect a long lunch with plenty of wine, a Pork Ewe cheese course, and plenty of dancing and fun.

Discounted cheese club membership

The Pork Ewe Gastronomic Society might just be our favourite club in Newcastle – an annual membership gets you access to exclusive in-store discounts, discounted monthly cheese boxes, and members-only events.
