Newcastle Food Month Feature Events

Get prepped this April for an onslaught of fabulous foodie events when the inaugural Newcastle Food Month launches more than 30 feature events and festivals across the city.

Working together with some of Newcastle’s best restauranteurs and event organisors you can expect everything from intimate winemaker lunches, seasonal tasting dinners, masterclasses with your favourite chefs, a moveable feast and the unlikely combination of beer and opera. Here's just a few of the highlights;

Naturellement

The Edwards is bringing together producers from Newcastle & the Hunter and their fine collection of wine, beer and spirits for you to experience. For an international flavour make your way to the one-time-only Baller Bar curated by P&V Merchants. You can also expect masterclasses, food collaborations by some of the best local chefs all the while DJ’s will be keeping the good times rolling.

Signal Box Pop-up Sparkling and Oyster Bar

Each Friday night in April the Signal Box pop-up Sparkling and Oyster Bar will be offering half dozen oysters and a glass of sparkling wine for $25 per person. Each week a different oyster variety will be available along with the grower on hand, freshly shucking and answering all your oyster questions.

Seafood Festival

The Newcastle Seafood Festival will be showcasing why it is the seafood capital of Newcastle. From Friday lunch 9th April to Sunday dinner on the 11th April over 30 Pubs, clubs, restaurants and takeaways in the area will be putting on their best, most creative and impressive seafood dishes, and you get to decide who is the best. They will all be vying for your endorsement as the best Seafood dish in the region. Try a dish at a participating venue, vote and you will go into the draw for a Five Star Seafood experience weekend in Sydney.

Other highlights to the weekend include the Seafood Co-Op Open Day and a family catch and release fishing competition.

Stadium Drive Through

Every Thursday in April McDonald Jones Stadium is the place to lunch from their all-new food outlet, the BBQ Pit. Offering Classic Hunter Hot Dogs, Angus Beef Burgers, Southern Brisket Bowls along with Crunchy Chips, and Chilli Corn on the Cob, it's guaranteed to be a classic diner-style lunch! No need to book just drive to the Stadium off Turton Road and follow the signs – and actually drive into the Stadium where you will choose from the classic diner menu.

Flotilla Presents...

Natural Wines + Autumn: An insight into natural wines and their latest menu. Chef Shayne Mansfield and beverage director Eduardo Molina invite you to a five-course degustation of their autumn menu with alternative natural wine pairings.

Bon Appetit! A Sweet Soiree

An operatic comedy, Bon Appétit, depicts the beloved celebrity cook, Julia Child, baking a chocolate cake (Le Gâteau au Chocolat Léminence Brune) and features acclaimed international mezzo-soprano Deborah Humble.

"We’re sorry to bring you the news this weekend’s events, Decadence and The Night Noodle Market, have been cancelled.
