Bao Brothers hits the road taking their foodie flavours across the state
Owners of Bao Brothers, David Griffin & Nathan Martin, both originally from Singleton, have taken this humble local business from their first-ever food stall at our very own Newcastle Farmers Markets in 2015 to now officially hitting the road bringing their unique flavours to keen foodie-lovers all across NSW.
The past seven years have seen the brothers scale the business up in ways they never thought possible. From food stall, food trailer, and food truck to a hole-in-the-wall store and multiple venues across the state, Bao Brothers have certainly been on one big rollercoaster ride.
“We have been lucky enough to have met some incredible people who have helped us along the way and now slowly we are building an amazing dream team to make Bao Brothers a national brand.”
Fast forward to 2022, Bao Brothers venues are set up here in Newcastle at both Charlestown and Kotara, at Chippendale in Sydney, and most recently, Terrigal on the Central Coast.
The Terrigal venue was the first franchised store of the brand and is brought to you by local couple Tim Gunasinghe and Nicole Schweizer-Gunasinghe. The pair are seasoned professionals in the hospitality game and are the perfect team to bring the Bao Brothers flavour to Central Coast.
With big plans to open multiple Bao Brothers venues not only state-wide, but Australia-wide and even one-day internationally, the boys are looking for keen, enthusiastic, and qualified foodies in the perfect locations for franchising opportunities.
“We are currently looking at various locations in Sydney CBD and suburbs we want to make sure we open in key locations that will give us great brand exposure.”
As always, the core of the business is situated around their incredibly tasty menu featuring unique and life-changing flavours. The crowd favourites include the Notorious P.I.G, Daddy Mac Chicken Bao, and the Massaman Potato Spring Rolls.
“Our new steamed buns are also really delicious, especially the yellow curry chicken one.”
The fast-growing team and brand are on a mission to become the first Newcastle-based fast-casual national brand and come with big dreams to take the BB brand internationally.
“We always want to stay true to what we have done since day one and that gives people an amazing unique delicious product. We are super excited for what the future holds and feel like it’s just the beginning.”
