You might recognise Alex O'Hara, the new Food & Beverage Director at The Anchorage
The Anchorage Hotel & Spa has just undergone a multi-million-dollar refurbishment, complete with day spa and wellness retreat, two onsite restaurants, whisky bar and two heated swimming pools.
And now to complete the picture they have appointed Alex O'Hara as Food & Beverage Director, taking the incredible range of hospitality on offer at The Anchorage to the next level.
Alex O’Hara may be a name familiar to many, formerly of Cazador in the Newcastle Mall, Alex will join the team overseeing the management of the resorts two restaurants; The Wild Herring and The Galley Kitchen, along with Hemingway’s Whisky bar.
“It’s an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. Having worked for myself for the last few years, it's probably one of the very few roles that I’d actually take on."
"For me this role has it all, it allows me to deliver a premium hospitality offering that both guests, locals and visitors would expect given the world-class reputation of The Anchorage, it allows me to use my HR background to recruit and coach the right team to ensure that the offer is quality and consistent, and allows me the opportunity to be creative, bringing some super food and wine events and other initiatives to the destination. I couldn’t be more excited.”
Alex returns this month from an extended break in the United States, doing what he loves most – eating and drinking at some of the worlds best bars and restaurants, even rubbing shoulders with Australian success-story Curtis Stone and eating at his newest two venues in Los Angeles.
Seemingly energised from his downtime having sold his Newcastle East restaurant Cazador in March 2017, Alex prepares to put The Anchorage on the map as a leading destination dining venue where locals and guests alike can enjoy the many food and beverages experiences on offer at The Anchorage.
