Newcastle’s most sophisticated evening of fine wine, gourmet food, glamour, and elegance is back!

Kicking off Newcastle Food Month for 2024, Le Dîner en Blanc returns on Saturday, April 6, igniting the city once again with its Parisian-inspired charm.

This year, as with the previous years, invitees are called upon to don their most glamorous all-white attire for a posh, pop-up picnic in a secret location announced at the very last minute. 

Expect live music under the night sky, world-class catering, entertainment, local wines, and, of course, le champagne!

In Paris in 1988, Parisienne socialite François Pasquier invited a group of friends to an elegant outdoor dinner at the Bois de Boulogne, asking them to dress in white so they could find each other. The only other instructions they were given were to bring a dish, invite a guest, and flaunt your best whites.

This intimate and effortlessly chic gathering has evolved into a global phenomenon, with the event now spanning six continents in which people picnic, and dress elegantly in white in a pop-up, highly secretive public space with fabulous entertainment.

Invited diners bring along their tables, chairs, and often their incredibly creative table settings, to dine with friends as they converge on iconic urban locations in more than 80 cities around the world each year.

So, once more the Newcastle Food Month team are bringing the magic of Le Dîner en Blanc to Newcastle! 

Of course, the location of this year’s venue will remain a secret to ticket holders until they embark on their designated coaches, or light rail, from various pick-up locations around the city on the evening of the event.

What we can reveal is that First Creek returns as the 2024 wine partner, along with other partners, Charlestown Square, Lexus of Newcastle, and Crystalbrook Kingsley. Catering will again be taken care of by Pork Ewe Deli alongside a mystery chef who will be revealing some creative and tasty new offerings.

“Le Dîner en Blanc is very special to us, as we long coveted bringing this global event to the Hunter. Newcastle Food Month was the ideal platform and both events have prospered and grown by feeding off each other,” Event Organiser Louise Maher said.
