Josie Coffee Roasters

Big coffee flavours continue Josie's coffee passion

Tucked away in a little corner of Gateshead is a boutique coffee roaster who is creating some big coffee flavours and in the process telling the story of a beautiful lady taken way too early.

Chris and Kate Edden are the owners of Josie Coffee, Chris being the roaster and Kate the creative behind the cute logo, and whilst both are passionate about their coffee the story of Josie Coffee is also about love.

On February 2015, at just 23 years of age, Josephine Edden (or Josie) was involved in a tragic accident in Melbourne, where Josie was living at the time. Coffee was a big part of Josie's life and one of the reasons she moved to Melbourne.

In a tribute to Josie’s memory Chris, Kate and their extended family wanted to create something that not only remembered Josie but was something that she would be proud of. The logo is a caricature of Josie and carries her trademark red lipstick which she always wore.

Josie Coffee has become much more than just a tribute, it’s become a serious coffee brand with the beans popping up all over Newcastle, at the likes of The Blink Monk, Peg’s, One Picket Fence and The Whistler in Maitland.

If you prefer to sip at home you can purchase your Josie Coffee beans online, along with some quirky merch.
