A fresh new chapter for the timeless Beaumont St venue
After over 70 years as the Gallipoli Legion Club, and a closure since May 2025, the Beaumont Street venue is back as the ‘Gallipoli House'.

Opening in 1955, the well-loved club operated as a memorial to the ANZACs who served in World War I. After a 2.2 million dollar sale in 2025, the club has undergone a massive transformation to bring the building into 2026 standards and wear a fresh new look.
After plenty of hurdles with development approvals, compliance, and renovation surprises, the team has taken on “one last crack to get it right”.

Opening just in time for ANZAC Day, community support was strong with Novocastrians showing up in droves to check out the new club, says Jared.
The renewed venue has been stripped of its old carpet and new gold signage shines on both the exterior and interior.
With a brand new layout, you can find cosy seating areas, plenty of spots for a drink and to enjoy a meal from the bistro, or perhaps a game of pool on the same billiard table that’s been there since 1965!

Showing homage to their service club roots, a new memorial lounge has been built to proudly display all the ANZAC day memorabilia collected over the years.

The new bar boasts over 13 brews on tap as well as specialty cocktails and a selection of red, white, and sparkling wines joining the revamped menu.

Along with the new venue, comes a new bistro, serving up all the pub classics for both dinner and lunch Tuesdays to Fridays. There are plenty of specials throughout the week like $18 schnitty night on Thursdays, $22 steak night on Wednesday (with complimentary beer, wine, or soft drink), kids eat free on Tuesdays, and a $23 Sunday roast to finish out the week.

Jarod and the team are keen to welcome in a brand new demographic of guests, whether it's with the family for dinner, cheap student drinks with friends, or those seeking a lunchtime special.
"Half of our floorspace is upstairs, so up there will be R&B Friday nights and techno nights on Saturdays"
Alongside DJs, the capacity is bigger than the Hamilton band room, but just smaller than King St Band room, so safe to say we might be seeing some gigs at 'The Gal' again soon.
With a strong focus on new beginnings and welcoming everyone through the door with fast friendly service, Gallipoli house is offering free one year membership to everyone who signs up before July.
