Lambton lands itself a deli-style café
Whilst we might all be in lockdown, it shouldn’t stop us from planning our lives for a post-lockdown comeback, which is exactly why we’re telling you all about Lambton’s newest business to join the community gang; Elder St Pantry!
With the current lockdown restrictions making it hard to give customers the full Elder St Pantry experience, owner Adrian has temporarily closed the Pantry's doors and has decided to utilise the takeaway offering at Matchbox Espresso as a way to serve up just a handful of the goods usually available from the main street pantry.
To keep you all excited for our post-lockdown lives, let's focus on what you can all expect from your future visit to the Lambton-based foodie joint!
Brought to us by the team behind Matchbox Espresso, Elder St Pantry sits almost directly on top of the hole-in-the-wall coffee spot and packs a punch when it comes to flavourful Italian-esque food and unique coffee!
With Matchbox Espresso launching late last year, Elder St Pantry has been slowly coming together over the past few months with the official opening kicking things off on the 14th of July!
The man behind the two businesses is Sydney born and bred self-confessed coffee fanatic and foodie, Adrian has officially launched not one, not two, but three concepts during the COVID-19 lockdowns (Matchbox Espresso, Elder St Pantry, and Henry & Co.), and if that doesn’t deserve a round of applause, we don’t know what does!
Located right next door to Unique Living in the new GWH development, the Italian-inspired suburban deli-space boasts specialty coffee, meats, cheese, pantry staples, and a whole lot more! With a dine-in menu available post-lockdown, the airy, light, comfortable, and inviting space is the perfect people-watching joint overlooking the entirety of Elder St.
“I wanted a space that had takeaway separate, and it had a small dine-in section. Everything here is pre-prepared every morning. We don’t have chefs, instead, we’ve streamlined everything so that the staff can do it all,” Adrian shared.
Our favourite dine-in dishes include Bruschetta with a range of toppings, the Loaded Crumpets complete with coconut yoghurt, blueberries, cacao nib, seasonal fruits, and honey, and our ultimate favourite (which also happens to be available takeaway), The Grazing Box for two; just look at those colours!
If it’s takeaway that you’re after, the Elder St Pantry team have created everything so as to be as perfect for takeaway as you can imagine. Whether it’s a loaded toastie, a flavoursome salad, quiche, or even a baguette; they’ve got it covered.
“We’ve got a huge meat and cheese selection, and we’ve got great fresh food like sandwiches, salads, and snack boxes.”
No local eatery is complete without an awesome coffee offering, and these guys have gone above and beyond by working with Sydney-based roastery, Single Origin, to craft their own blend and create a new brand (beans are even available for retail purchase), called Henry & Co!
Speaking of retail, the new eatery stocks a huge range of retail products available for purchase, letting you take a little bit of Elder St Pantry home with you.
“The retail section is pretty heavily Italian influenced because that’s my background. I’ve also leaned towards a vegan offering. My partner is vegan, and a lot of my friends are vegan and with Matchbox, I actually asked the community what they were after, so I got a feel for what the locals were wanting.”
The local deli space is bringing a new concept to Lambton that the area was yearning for. Whether you live in the area and get your hands on one of their lockdown offerings available through the Matchbox Espresso’s takeaway window, or you’re building your post-lockdown itinerary, make sure to give Elder St Pantry a taste test!
