Relaxed, authentic Italian on Darby Street
Darby Street has for a long time been the go-to place for all your breakfast, lunch and dinner needs, amongst other things. And whilst you may have your favourite haunts, perhaps it’s time you crossed the road and tried something a little different.
Italian is the common theme along with a few new flavours that are worth exploring on several visits.
For lunch you can’t go past the meatball baguette with parmesan and fried potato and for entrée most definitely the pea and mozzarella arancini with tartar sauce.
Breakfast is just as memorable. Either keep it smallish with the pumpkin, fig and walnut loaf with mascarpone or go all out with the house smoked salmon with avocado, ricotta, poached egg and pistachio dukkah on toast.
To complement the brekky menu Malin, Nathan and the team have concocted their very own house-made ice tea that comes complete with fresh fruit floating on top. This refreshing little beast is so full of flavour the only way it could get any better was if a few spirits were tipped in and it turned into a long island iced tea. But Nathan and Malin don’t encourage drinking at breakfast, yet anyway.
The super cosy interior has been extended out onto the street with big old bar bench seats perfect for doing a bit of people watching along the always active Darby St. Also perfect for soaking up the morning rays or watching the sunset on hot summer nights.
Whatever the meal, we recommend heading to Coal River & Co.
