Inside Novotel at Newcastle Beach

Ever thought of dining inside an accommodation hot-spot in Newcastle? Well, maybe you should! Bistro Dalby is tucked away inside the tourist favourite, Novotel that sits right opposite Newcastle Beach.

With this ideal location, just a mere 200 metres away from the beach, Bistro Dalby might just be your next go-to destination for an after-beach trip lunch visit or late arvo beverage meet-up.

This Summer, Novotel and Bistro Dalby are launching a bunch of exciting events to keep you entertained over the warmer months. From wine tastings, to market stall pop-ups, there’s a little bit of everything happening. Summer at Novotel is…

“About salty hair, sandy feet and enjoying a drink in the sun with friends and family. It is about going for a surf at Newcastle Beach or swimming at the baths. It is about supporting local music. It is going for a walk, beach side followed by a barista made coffee. It is enjoying daylight savings with a late afternoon beverage.

“It is bringing Hunter Valley wines to the coast. It is supporting independent local businesses. It is about bringing our guests, Newcastle locals and friends and family together for the best Summer yet.”

Enjoy happy hours from 3-6pm every day, browse through original Indigenous artworks, homewares, prints and gifts by local artist, Saretta, and pull up a seat at The Hunter Bar; a pop-up by bar featuring Glandore Estate wines kicking off on the evening on Tuesday through to Saturday. The interior of the restaurant is decked to the nines in all the fancy furnishings including their signature bright orange dining chairs, fully equipped bar and large sliding doors that open out onto the terrace seating area.

Situated in its own quiet little courtyard, the outdoor space of Bistro Dalby is my pick for a spot to sit and take in the coastal air. If you listen closely, you’ll still be able to hear the waves crashing over at Newcastle Beach as well as getting a glimpse of the Harbour as you look down Pacific St. Surrounded by water on both sides, what more could you want?

Now to the food; what exactly can you expect on your dish at Bistro Dalby? Fresh and seasonal produce is at the core of their menu, with their most current update featuring all of your favs but with a unique Bistro Dalby twist.

Our picks of the bunch would be the soft corn prawn tortilla with fresh herb salad and lime and ginger dressing for starters. Followed by either the Salmon Fillet with sweet potato Shiro, miso puree, mango sauce and ponzu salad or the crowd favourite; South West Chicken Burger.

If it’s share plates that you’re after, Bistro Dalby also offers a range of small dishes to share like their chicken skewers, crispy chat potatoes and the all important cheese board.

Whether it’s beers, ciders, wines or cocktails; you name is Bistro Dalby offers it. There’s a little bit of something here for everyone.

Bistro Dalby is perfect for the little ones as well, with a dedicated kids menu, a inside kids area as well as their huge courtyard; perfect for the kids to scoot around whilst mum and dad enjoy an afternoon wine on the terrace.

With East End Hub just across the way, this space might be Newcastle East’s best-kept secret.
