Good coffee & healthy treats in Newcastle West
In case you were under the impression that Newcastle had reached its limit when it came to new coffee shops and cafes, think again.
Novocastrians love coffee in case you hadn't realised, so "too many cafes" doesn't appear to be evident in our vocabulary, especially when each one has its own identity and need in its area.
Benchmark has been the most recent on my radar, and with great coffee and delicious healthy food I think it should be on yours too.
Owner and head chef, David Jordan opened Benchmark last year within the community of a cross-fit gym, float centre and hairdressers behind Parry St in Marketown.
Using local boutique coffee roaster, Josie, the coffee is full of flavour with a fruity finish. Available on tap is also cold brew coffee and kombucha.
Food includes protein balls, acai bowls, bacon & egg burgers with rocket, tomato, relish & aioli, and I got to try sweet potato with avocado, beetroot hummus, spinach, poached eggs & quinoa.
Being healthy never tasted so good!
Sit in, grab a takeaway, or even get it delivered via Uber Eats, you really have no excuse not to give this one a try.
