After 3 years at Coal & Cedar, we thought it was time you got to know Sean a little better
We fired 20 questions at Sean to get the low-down on life at Coal & Cedar.
What was your first job?
My first job was putting up Christmas decorations in shopping malls, it was my uncle's business, when I was 13.
Drink of choice?
Can't go past a decent Margarita, or a Boilermaker.
What’s your favourite sport?
Honestly, I don't really follow any sports. I enjoy bodyboarding though so that's more my jam.
And team?
Can't answer that one unfortunately haha.
Who’s your go-to barber?
My man Chris Hatch at the Alibi Room. Cleanest cuts going around.
Fav Restaurant?
Tough one, I'd say Kitami on Beaumont. Nice and casual, great Japanese food.
Who taught you the art of cocktail making?
Kind of self-taught to be honest. Had a few tips and tricks from some higher bartenders I've met, but the job is very hands-on, so you learn quickly. Having good colleagues around you is very important, so you all bounce off each other and learn new techniques and recipes from one another.
What do you do in your spare time?
Draw, bodyboard, train when I can. Just enjoy my time off work really. The job is pretty demanding, so mostly just things that help me relax
What are you reading?
Currently nothing, the last thing I read was 'The demons sermon on the Martial arts'.
What do your mates call you?
I've had a few ridiculous nicknames in my time, at the moment its 'Sugar Gaddes'.....
How long have you worked at Coal & Cedar?
I've worked here for 3 awesome years. Started on glasses and now am at the top of the food chain. The company has taught me a lot, I'm very grateful.
All-time favourite movie?
Rush Hour. Hands down one of the best movies of all time.
Next holiday destination?
I'm off to New Zealand, then Thailand for a short trip.
Last Holiday?
Spent a month in Japan last year.
Favourite Bar?
Can I nominate my own?
Beside Coal & Cedar?
Another tough one, I like to spread the love amongst my peers and fellow hospitality members. If I'm ever in Sydney though, Lobo Plantation is the bomb.
Who’s the funniest person you know?
Probably Flynn, my fellow bartender. Whenever we are behind the stick together, it gets pretty ridiculous.
Got any bad habits?
Probably talk too fast.
Secret talents?
That's a secret...
Who would you most like to see walk into Coal & Cedar?
Anybody who's up for a good chat, some hard liquor, and just an all-around good time. Wouldn't say no to Chris Tucker walking through the doors either.
