DRUM CORP, an incredible, high-energy music education program operating in 32 primary schools in Newcastle and The Hunter recently hired out the UNSW Roundhouse to perform and film their 2018 music video, SUPER JAM – Big Oak Tree. The song was specifically written for DRUM CORP by Australian guitarist Nathan Cavaleri, and featured year 4, 5 & 6 Drum Corp students.

In total, there were 200 young drummers, aerial artists, and a Jamaican lead singer, Blakker (lead singer of popular reggae band The Strides). Two world class cinematographers were brought in for the shoot and we think the results speak for themselves.

“This year was the first year we ran our Children Saving Children Campaign” says Col Hatchman, creator of Drum Corp, and once drummer for local boys The Screaming Jets. “Thanks to our school’s and parent’s commitment to the program we were able to provide 14 children in remote communities education and a safe living environment this year.

“I think the magic captured in this film clip is a reflection of what can happen when kids combine their passion and enthusiasm with a desire to make a difference in the world, and Im humbled by the result.”
