Breakfast in Newy is all about heading to Darby Street, meeting up with some friends and enjoying a coffee and delicious brekkie. Followed by some shopping, the markets or a swim at Bar Beach.

There are so many cafes to pick from, so we’ve put together a list of our fave Darby Street breakfast haunts:

Frankies on Darby are known for their all-day breakfast menu, great service and intimate upstairs dining space, perfect for escaping the crowds. Our fave menu item is the Pappa Frank, it’s huge! With two eggs, two rashers of double smoked, black forest bacon, chorizo, roast tomato, mushroom, hash brown and toast.

For something a little different try the Chorizo and Chilli Spanish Omelette with Spanish onion, fresh chilli, roast tomato, baby spinach and danish feta served with sourdough.

Or for the ultimate intersection of sweet and savoury, there’s the Waffles with Bacon and Hazelnut Cream: a Belgian waffle served with double smoked Black Forest bacon, home-made mixed berry jam and hazelnut infused cream.

At The Autumn Rooms we can’t go past the Black Fox Crumpets with lavender honey, fresh berries, mascarpone and french butter. They are so delicate, fresh and simply melt in your mouth. And you can enjoy it with a glass of champagne too, why not!

Whilst across the road at Core Espresso, the breakfasts look more like art than food! They’re almost too good to eat. We love their health bowl with soft poached eggs, quinoa, avocado, seed mix, kale, spinach, halloumi, lemon and garlic oil. Or their simple, poached eggs with roasted beetroot and za’atar relish, Persian fetta, dukkah seed mix and sourdough.

Haywire on Darby is absolutely bursting with energy thanks to barista Pep. His lust for life is bloody infectious, you’ll leave Haywire not only buzzing on the caffeine but high on the love oozing out of this joint. It's perfect for a quick breakfast pit stop, here you can pick up a bagel, toastie or pastries to go.

Up the southern end of Darby Street towards Bar Beach you’ll find Hubro, run by brothers Duncan and Tim. Here you’ll find a fresh and healthy menu featuring Chia Pudding, Avo on Sourdough and a new range of smoothies.

You can't go wrong when ordering anything from the Three Monkeys menu, the Moroccan Eggs and Ricotta Pancakes are to die for, as are their insanely long list of Smoothies

For the sweet tooths out there you must try Coco Monde’s Nutella French Toast or Waffles with banana, strawberries, maple syrup and vanilla icecream. There’s also the classic Goldbergs' Buttermilk Pancake Stack or WIA Store’s legendary Acai Bowls. There’s just too many choices.

Bring on the weekend!
