From Friday 20th December there will be a new reason to take a visit to Port Stephens, be warned though it's a little bit cheeky and a whole lot tasty.
The Cheeky Dog is tucked beneath the boutique hotel, Bannisters Port Stephens at Soldiers Point, and is the latest addition by the team who have once again
collaborated with architect Tony Freeman to create a unique blend of stunning indoor and outdoor spaces that include a beer garden, bistro and sports
The classic contemporary style was the work of leading design company, MCM House with the venue combining a palette of natural recycled materials, soaring
steel trussed roofs, exposed timber ceilings, all with a variety of spaces and bars.
The food is, of course, delicious with Rick Stein at Bannisters Head Chef, Mitch Turner creating a simple Mediterranean inspired menu that is made for
“We’ve designed a menu to share, with fresh dough pizzas and antipasti being the hero dishes, but we’ve still got the pub favourites; like a schnitty and
a cheeseburger. I like to think of family dinners, bringing everyone together for a shared experience, and there really is something for everybody
on the menu”, says Mitch.
"Our pizza dough is made locally in Newcastle, by a gent called Declan who’s spent time in Italy and London perfecting his craft. It’s delicious, and we’re
so excited to be using it, the crust is everything. ‘Build up a spread of antipasti including burrata, parma ham, anchovies in extra virgin olive oil,
and Guindilla peppers. Pizza toppings cater to all, with vegetarian, meat and seafood options to choose from. The Cheeky Dog cheeseburger will no doubt
be a staple, as will the range of pizzas, for sure.”
If you were wondering about the name, Cheeky Dog, it is of course all about making your four-footed friends welcome with pooches allowed to hang out in
the beer garden ensuring its welcoming to everyone in the family.
