Foodie? Well, you’re missing out if you haven’t heard of or visited the new restaurant in the Hunter Valley; Yellow Billy.
The culmination of talents. Sam Alexander; who has worked at venues such as Bistro Molines and The Reserve Wine Bar in Newcastle and Sommelier Pat Hester; who holds over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry.
Yellow Billy is the hottest new venue in the Hunter, and we mean that literally. With a custom-built fire pit used daily to cook up the protein, vegetables and even to add smoky flavour to the fruit that ends up on your plate.
So, what about the name?
“According to legend, Yellow Billy was a Gentleman Bush Ranger who roamed the Hunter Valley areas of Broke and Pokolbin during the 1860s… he was an early forager who allegedly lived off the land and slept in caves under the Brokenback Ranges. It was here this native desperado cooked on fire to survive.
“Now, we immortalise this local celebrity as we ignite the fire in his honour with the backdrop of the Brokenback Ranges in our sights. The legend burns bright.”

Located in the grounds of Piggs Peake Winery, Yellow Billy is bringing not just excellent food to the region, but the entire concept will be sure to leave its mark on your experience.
Focussing on the art of cooking over the fire, the menu has been perfected for diners to share and the flavours match with Alexander’s family heritage; full of transcontinental flavours and unlike anything else in the Hunter Valley.
