Saltire Estate

The Hunter Valley's Saltire Estate have a special Spring wine release

This year has certainly been challenging but like most things in life, there’s always some positives.

Take for example, the COVID enforced downtime which has enabled many of us to roll up our sleeves and get into the garden or spend some quality time cleaning out wardrobes, linen cupboards and even the back shed!

Like us, the team at Saltire Estate have been doing a bit of Spring cleaning of their own, diving deep into their cellars to uncover some wine gems which they’re really excited for wine lovers to try.

These “cellared beauties” as Cellar Door Manager, Mercedes Mendoza, calls them, can now be purchased as a special release six-pack. Mercedes notes.

“Our cellared Semillons are drinking so beautifully at the moment. We wanted to offer a special mixed pack of these wines so people can really appreciate just how well they've aged in bottle. We added the bubbles because everyone needs a little lift at the moment!"

So, what’s in the mixed whites six-pack?

Mercedes and the team have hand-selected five of their best Semillons from their Saltire and Warraroong labels (from the 2006 to 2010 vintages) for the pack, along with the 2008 Claremont Brut Chardonnay.

The limited release pack costs $88 which includes delivery to Newcastle, Sydney, the Hunter Valley and the Central Coast.

It's incredible value really.

Not a fan of white wine?  No worries.  Saltire have a mixed pack of aged red wines for $68 which includes three traditional red styles – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Merlot and three alternate red varieties – Chambourcin, Barbera and Grenache.

At the moment Saltire Estate are also running the #StayInWithSaltire Competition where you can win a six-pack of the delicious Claremont Brut Chardonnay.

Just follow Saltire on Facebook or Instagram and comment three emojis that you think best represent Saltire Estate.  The best answer judged by the Saltire panel wins!  The competition closes on 31 August 2020.

If you lucky enough to live in the Hunter Valley or are planning a trip soon, make sure you stop by the unique Saltire Estate cellar door, located inside their state-of-the-art winery.

Visiting HUNTERhunter readers will receive an exclusive 'off-the-list' tasting of two of Mercedes' favourite wines - the delicious 2013 Sangiovese and 2009 Semillon.

Just type 'HUNTERhunter' in the Add Message section when you book in.

Saltire Estate is open between 10am – 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.  Please note bookings are essential and social distancing restrictions apply.
