You can find this hidden gem just off the beaten track in the Mount View Region, where they’ve been producing some of the most respected wines in the Hunter Valley off vineyard plantings since the 70s.
All roads leading to the boutique winery have lush farmland and terraced vineyards views as far as the eye can see. Take a step out of your car and you’re instantly greeted by their tranquil gardens, mountain scenery, and a relaxing atmosphere.
Walking up to the cellar door, you can feel yourself unwind as you’re greeted by friendly, easy going staff who know a thing or two about wine and how best to enjoy it here. There’s a lot of wines to try - some classic styles as well as their alternative counterparts and you can pick from their range of unique tasting experiences; the traditional cellar door tasting bar, on the tasting deck or in their popular wine garden.
Take in the natural surrounds of this rural paradise while you enjoy a taste, a glass or a bottle of Briar Ridge wine, along with delicious cheese and antipasto platters made to order.
Featuring Binnorie Dairy Cheeses and fresh produce and condiments from Hunter providores, you’ll be wanting to take home some of these little goodies for later on (which you can!).
If the Wine Garden’s your preferred spot, lounge back in the comfy outdoor seating with a wine in hand, to catch some of the Hunter’s best mountain views and keep an eye out for Briar Ridge’s friendly furry friend Ernest; you might be lucky enough to snag a cuddle!
Alongside their Wine Garden and Cellar Door tastings, the team here at Briar Ridge have developed unique and fun Wine and Vineyard Tour experiences.
The ‘Walk Between the Vines’ Vineyard Tour and ‘Behind the Scenes’ Winery Tour allows wine lovers to learn more about viticulture and see firsthand the inner workings of a boutique winery. Not just your run-of-the-mill tour, Briar Ridge’s combined tour experiences include a glass of wine, a taste of wine straight from the barrel and a complimentary wine picnic tumbler for every tour guest to take home.
Wine & Cheese Picnic Packs in the Wine Garden start from $38 and cater for two to four people. Combined Vineyard and Winery tours, run on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1.30pm and bookings are essential.
