If stylish home décor is just not your strong suit or the thought of finding the perfect window adornments and soft furnishings for your home leaves you feeling a little overwhelmed, you’re not alone. Let’s face it, in today’s information age there’s so much choice when it comes to interiors.
You only need to type in the words “interior design” to Pinterest and a whole smorgasbord of home furnishings and fittings will grace your screen. Short of being able to find (or afford) your own personal home stylist, where’s a girl to turn?
Well, it just so happens that we know exactly where you need to go. It’s over to Maitland, to the lovely and somewhat providential new digs of Valley Vogue.
Working in window furnishings since she was 16, Owner and Manager of Valley Vogue, Belinda Sinclair, knows a thing or two about interiors. She knows how they can complement a space or create an impact. It’s this eye for detail, while taking in the big design picture that has kept Belinda’s Newcastle and Hunter clientele returning for her style advice a decade on.
While starting off her career in Maitland, Belinda has been practicing her craft in The Gather Collective Studio in the Newcastle CBD for the last many years. “There just weren’t many places you could go to get some good advice on furnishing your home when we first opened. You could research online, but getting help to make the right selection to suit your individual taste and moreover, measuring and fitting correctly is quite a daunting task for most of us with busy lifestyles” notes Belinda.
A former drapery no less, the beautiful new High Street showroom in Maitland which features bedding, lounge and dining room concepts as well as a studio
design desk (where her interior designer clients can bring in their clients for sample viewings) is quite impressive.
As is their list of preferred suppliers which is a veritable who’s of who of the interior design world – Mokum textiles, Unique fabrics, Designers Guild to name but a few.
If you’re not sure what you’re after, a visit to the showroom where you can see and feel these gorgeous fabrics as well as a range of custom indoor and
outdoor furnishings is the way to go. With the finest handwoven Asian silks and luxurious French linen on show, you’re sure to find the perfect finishing
touches for your abode.
Belinda runs me through how it works. “We like to get a feel for the creative vision pretty early on, getting to know our clients likes and dislikes, so we can tailor a solution that’s practical, suits our client’s lifestyle and ultimately, one they’ll love.
If you don’t have time to make a trip to Maitland, Valley Vogue can also come to you for an obligation-free chat, with a selection of fabric samples they think will be the right fit.
“For us, it about sharing our expertise so our clients can have a hassle-free and enjoyable design experience.” Amen to that!
