Lose yourself in Broke - a peaceful rural area offering unique wine experiences, olive produce and amazing stays
A peaceful rural and viticultural area, Broke Fordwich is a place to lose yourself and reconnect to the simple life. Driving into this smaller sub-valley, you’ll feel an instant sense of relaxation as you pass by green pastures, olive groves and of course vineyards.
A boutique wine haven, Broke is home to two Hunter wineries championing the organic/biodynamic wine movement, Ascella being the largest certified organic vineyard in the Hunter Valley.
The Margan winery and chef’s hatted restaurant is also located here, offering visitors a little indulgence, a great option for that special dinner after a relaxed day of tastings and village moseying.
If you’ve experienced Pokolbin, or perhaps are just after a slower pace, Broke Fordwich is the spot for you. There’s plenty of boutique cottages and self-contained house accommodation available.
And, not that you need another reason to visit, but the ‘Little Taste of Italy in Broke’ festival, held in April is a perennial favourite of ours which brings together a variety of fun activities like cooking classes, workshops and tours with fresh, authentic Italian-inspired cuisine and produce across 12 local venues.
