There’s nothing quite like savouring a delicious glass of red wine by the fire on a winter’s day. Whether it’s the comforting sounds and warmth of the
crackling fire or the wine helping to warm you up on the inside, there’s just something magic and a little bit indulgent about this favourite winter
pastime, especially when shared with your favourite people.
Which is why we were excited to hear that Briar Ridge, one of our fav boutique Hunter wineries, have just introduced another bespoke wine tasting experience
to their cellar door, this one is a little bit mysterious and perhaps most importantly, good for the soul.
Located off the beaten track in the lovely Mount View region, Briar Ridge is a picture of rural paradise. Renowned equally for its beauty, great wines and people, this is a place to take your time and really lose yourself. Their new winter tasting experience in the vineyard will help you do just that.
Keen to know more? Visitors embarking on this indulgent wine tasting adventure will be treated to a glass of bubbles on arrival, Briar Ridge’s very tasty Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir, served at a private table, set up in a secluded mystery vineyard location. With your wine in hand, take a tour in the vineyard with one of Briar Ridge’s friendly and knowledgeable team members. A great time to ask all those burning questions about viticulture and the winemaking process or just chill-out and be in the moment.
When you return to your table, get ready to enjoy Briar Ridge’s signature cheese and antipasto platter featuring fresh produce and condiments from local
Hunter providores and of course, a very special wine tasting comprising current and museum release wines from their ultra-premium Single Vineyard range.
Made with fruit sourced from Briar Ridge’s estate these award-winning wines, including the Dairy Hill Semillon and Shiraz along with the Briar Hill Chardonnay, which are definitely for savouring. All the more while snuggling next to a fire in one of the cosy throws provided while taking in the beautiful mountain and vineyard views.
We love that these private tastings are hosted too but not at all intrusive. Providing the warm hospitality, the vineyard is so famed for, your dedicated
Briar Ridge team member can be there as much or as little as you prefer, leaving plenty of time to talk all things wine or simply enjoy some quiet
time together in the vines.
Named ‘The Best Tasting Experience in the Hunter’ in 2018 by Gourmet Traveller WINE, the Briar Ridge cellar door has many other tasting experiences for
wine enthusiast to enjoy. Groups will love kicking back on comfy outdoor lounge chairs in the tranquil gardens while sharing a gourmet cheese and wine
picnic. Equally as enjoyable, guests are welcome to pick a spot on Briar Ridge’s stunning, recently refurbished deck for their wine tasting or take
a seat at the wine bar in the cellar door for a more traditional but just as relaxed, wine experience.
For those curious about how a winery works, Briar Ridge also offers ‘Behind the Scenes’ winery tours which are a great way to learn more about the winemaking process. These informative but fun tours run from 2pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and cost $20 per person which also includes a wine tasting and an exclusive taste of wine straight from the barrel!
