The annual Food Fight is back this June! | 28 Jun

Get in on the action at the Hunter Culinary Association Food Fight this Tuesday 28th June, and by action, we mean a four-course meal served by the region’s best!

The Food Fight is the signature calendar event organised each year by the Hunter Culinary Association and it is not to be missed!

Each year two highly regarded Sydney chefs take on two top names from the Hunter and provide their 300 strong dining audience with not only an incredible day of food and wine, but entertainment plus, as they are set the task of deciding which chef cooked which dish, and who did it best.

The rules of the fight are as such:

1. Four expert chefs each prepare one lunch course
2. Each course is matched with a delicious Hunter Valley wine
3. Guests vote on which dish they liked best at the end of the gourmet feast
4. The chef whose dish garners the most votes is crowned the 2022 Food Fight Champion

This year, it’s Sydney vs Hunter Valley. The chefs lined up for the Food Fight (and polishing their culinary weapons as we speak!) are:

Joshua Raine – Executive Chef at the acclaimed fine-dining Sydney restaurant Tetsuyas. His culinary expertise comes from combining classical French cooking techniques with the Japanese philosophy of using natural, seasonal flavours.

Alexis Besseau – Head Chef at Restaurant Hubert, a restaurant showcasing classic French dishes located in Sydney. An expert in the intricacies of French cuisine, Alexis is a formidable competitor indeed.

Michael Portley – Executive Chef at HUMBUG. Michael carries with him a wealth of experience, having been Head Chef at two of Newcastle’s top venues; Subo and The Edwards, alongside an exceptional career in kitchens all across Australia.

Thomas Waite – Sous Chef at the hatted Hunter Valley restaurant Bistro Molines. Thomas is strong force behind the dishes at the rustic European restaurant and an outstanding chef.

It’s a fabulous event set down for Tuesday 28 June at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley. The event is also a signature event in the Hunter Valley Food and Wine Festival.
