Fetch

New Pokolbin digs for one of our favourite Hunter boutiques

Peppers Creek Village.  The new and very well-suited residence of Fetch - an unexpected little treasure of a boutique store that houses a lovely collection of all sorts of goodies for your home, loved ones and even for yourself.

Since opening their original store in Cessnock in 2014, owners Sarah and Joel have continued to build Fetch’s appeal, carefully selecting quality homewares, fashion and gifts from trusted brands, to create what is truly, a beautiful and unique lifestyle store.  Unique in the sense that the shop also sells handmade timber furniture and specialty pieces made by Joel himself.

As the story goes, Joel decided to have a go at building the family dining room table one day and discovered he had a bit of a talent for it.  Since the burgeoning of this new passion, Joel has continued to build beautiful wooden products under ‘The Lumberjack’ brand.

These days, his hand-crafted timber pieces include cheese boards, vases and, of course, dining room furniture, ranging from intricately designed four-seater parquet tables to equally stylish eight-seater ensembles that anyone would be chuffed to feature in their dining room. And, according to Sarah, the timber-ware side of the business is booming.

“Since last September we’ve been supplying Joel’s timber vases and boards to other retail shops. We were hoping wholesaling would help grow The Lumberjack but we’ve really been blown away with the response."

"Joel is now supplying over 30 different shops with his products."

Don’t you just love it when locals do well!  The whole move to Peppers was quite fortuitous for the pair too.  Following a quite early-year’s trade in 2019, Sarah and Joel re-assessed their options.  Sarah continues.

"It was a blessing in disguise really."

"The business was doing okay in Cessnock but that quite time gave us pause to look at the big picture.  The opportunity came up at Peppers Creek and we took it hoping the move to the vineyards would still be close enough for our local customers and at the same time invite visitors to the Pokolbin area to the store. We’re so happy that we made the move."

Visiting the new Fetch digs, it’s nice to see that Sarah’s preference for Australian made/owned and her desire to support local brands and artists hasn’t changed. Karma coming back around for success of The Lumberjack you might say!

Nowadays the store has products from a variety of homegrown talents like Xander Holliday, Amy O'Donnell, Casey Irvine, Bare Nature Skin, Anvil Creek and Rancho Jewellery. Then there’s Sarah’s favourite homeware/décor labels including Bison Home, Robert Gordon, Angus & Celeste and Bonnie & Neil.  Sarah also stocks a few women’s fashion labels.  Eb & Ive, the much-loved Australian label, in particular has a beautiful range of must-have wardrobe staples, go-to basics and accessories that are worth checking out.

In the same way as I feel about bookstores, Fetch is another of those heavenly little places you’ll lose yourself in.

There’s just so much cool stuff to check out – coffee table books, pendant lighting, body products and children’s gear and toys.  Guaranteed you will not leave here without buying something for somebody special, yourself included!

If you love this place as much as we do, but don’t live locally, you’ll be very pleased to learn that you can shop Fetch online here.
