Rydges Resort Hunter Valley

Kids water park paradise in the Hunter Valley

There is no way we are letting go of summer that easily!

When Rydges Resort Hunter Valley launched their very own water park, there was certainly temptation to experience this all for ourselves and let our inner kids loose, but we held back and let the actual kids have some fun.

As the kids suited up, us parents settled in with a drink in hand to watch the action unfold. It quickly became apparent that there was a clear crowd favourite. It’s bright purple, goes off every four minutes and dumps a gigantic bucket load of water on the awaiting littlies. It’s the Grapeload Bucket! Yes, this smiling mischief maker had the kids laughing with joy!

After each regular drenching, the kids would scatter to continue exploring the rest of the water park!

There were four slides for the kids to choose from, key to ensuring no arguments unfolded over whose turn it is. One of the enclosed slides twisted around creating a tunnel of fun for those braver kids.

Then there was the double open slide, a perfect starter slide for the little ones who had to be 91cm high to use the new facilities. And great for a little race with a sibling, friend or parent... if you couldn’t fight off the urge to have some fun.

The water cannons were also another feature that encouraged interactive play. The kids were madly trying to spray their friends below in a water version of tag.

The water park is in a great location at Rydges Resort Hunter Valley, right next to the expansive pool which has a shallow kids swimming area and a temperature controlled spa. There are also plenty of banana lounges and chairs so you can kick back and relax whilst the kids entertain themselves.

And when the hunger pains kick in after all that activity, The Lovedale Bar and Restaurant is right there serving up a casual lunch, dinner or just snacks and drinks. Hint hint - drinks include a wine and cocktail list plus Sydney Brewery is brewing fresh craft beers onsite.

The water park is a great addition to an already fantastic location for families. Not only do guests of Rydges Resort Hunter Valley get free access to the new Water Park, which is great when you’re looking for things to do with kids in Lovedale, but you also have everything onsite to have the perfect family getaway.

There is a kids club which is open during school holidays, a miniature train ride around the resort which departs every Saturday (10am and 2pm) and Sunday (10am only), a kids games room, kangaroo tours and food and drink options at the two eateries. I think it’s time for a little family holiday!
