Brokenwood Wines has teamed up with Newcastle-based art gallery, SMAC Space Studios to launch a new art gallery space within their Cellar Door.

The exhibition, titled Lucidem, is a celebratory study of the unique intensity of Australian light. Direct reference is made to local areas as artist Sally McDonald shares her immersive experience and response to colours felt and found.

Sally is a contemporary abstract landscape artist who primarily works with acrylic, resin, and mixed media to create layered, atmospheric, textured works. The ocean, estuaries, and forests of the NSW eastern coast are ever-present in her work and are a constant inspiration.

In 2020, Sally founded SMAC Space Studios in the Newcastle suburb of Tighes Hill, which houses a collective of creatives and a rotating range of exhibitions.

The exhibition will run until Monday, 31^st of May, so to make the most of the very first pop-up art gallery at Brokenwood Wines, book yourself into a Cellar Door tasting experience before wandering Sally’s Lucidem.
