The warm aroma of freshly ground coffee beans, rich melted chocolate and decadent dishes descended on Maitland during this year's free Maitland Aroma Coffee and Chocolate Festival, on August 12 and 13.

Featuring expert chocolatiers, talented baristas and the best of the region’s winemakers, it was the perfect way to ward off the winter chill.

This festival of the senses saw the Riverside Car Park come alive, allowing rugged up visitors to enjoy some of the most indulgent products from across the Hunter Region and beyond.

On the Flavour Stage, visitors watched demonstrations from local chefs, showing off some of their favourite dishes and special techniques using locally sourced and seasonal produce.

This year, special guest and Newcastle Native Reece Hignell – better known as Cakeboi – took to the stage.

Reece hosted a range of delicious workshops and demonstrations on the stage including local businesses and roasters such as River Roast, My Three Beans and Schibello Coffee, all featuring chocolate or coffee! 

Maitland Aroma boasted an amazing array of eats over the weekend, from crepes and cookies to pastries and cupcakes and some of the region’s most delicious gourmet foods. Visitors were also able to wander through some amazing artisan market stalls while enjoying a warming cup of coffee. 

As part of the live music program, Maitland Aroma hosted some of the region’s best up and coming independent songwriters and performers. They were featured across three locations throughout The Riverside Car Park over the weekend.

Kids could create their own coffee and chocolate themed artwork facilitated by local community group Girl Guides. 

There was plenty for the whole family to enjoy while visiting Maitland Aroma!
