Founded by old friends Jan and Pete (aka the Hunter Valley’s Sir Lunchalot) in 2008, these two blokes have followed their passions for food, wine, and the Hunter Valley.
Since opening in 2013 Two Fat Blokes’ Gourmet Kitchen & Deli has earned a reputation throughout the Hunter Valley as the go-to spot for a long weekend brunch. With rolling lawns, generous servings, and a fun, friendly atmosphere it’s easy to understand why.
Their 120 seat restaurant is packed most weekends with locals and tourists enjoying the live music and letting the kids (and dogs) run free on the lawns. Their breakfast menu features all the favourites such as buttermilk pancakes, corn fritters, ham and cheese croissants, bacon and eggs; and house-made granola. But the pièce de résistance is the Breakfast Challenge: The Tower For Two (pictured below) which features an absolute mountain of food! The ultimate hangover cure.
The relaxed lunch menu includes dishes from all around the world: kransky baguettes, Thai salads, goat’s cheese soufflé, Spanish gazpacho, paella and BBQ pork sliders. For the chilli lovers you’ll have to order The Mexican Chilli Challenge consisting of beef cheek chilli con carne served with a “death box” of chilli sauces.
The onsite European-style deli has a huge range of cheeses, cheekily named chocolates, housemade condiments and small goods. They also make a mean picnic pack which is handy if you’re heading to A Day On The Green.
Two Fat Blokes are all about having fun and not taking themselves too seriously, “We have a lot of fun here!” co-owner Julie explained, “expect to have fun. Everything is about having fun and enjoying yourself at Two Fat Blokes”.
