Degustation to your door | The last one for 2020!

It's been a tough few months for the hospitality sector but some restaurants and cafe's have shown amazing resilience and ingenuity enabling them to pull through this challenging period and even thrive.  One such business is The Deck Café in Lovedale.  To say their 'Degustation to your Door' offering has been extremely popular is an understatement. 

According to owner café Matt Dillow, the five-course cooking experience has been delivered to over 4,500 homes since the first of the 11 menus was cooked up back in March. 

With The Deck Cafe now back open and offering a delicious Tapas menu for lunch Monday to Friday and on Friday and Saturday evenings, Matt will be serving up his last Degustation package for the year, next month.   

This last Degustation experience will feature Matt's favourite dishes from the Degustation menu.  Be sure to order yours soon.  They tend to sell out quickly!

Are you missing long weekends spent in the Hunter Valley? Wine tasting your way through the day and indulging in some of Australia’s finest dining? Well, thanks to The Deck Café you no longer have to dream!

Located in the heart of Lovedale, The Deck Cafe has been serving up delicious and hearty meals since its inception in 2013 but after the Covid-19 outbreak forcing them to close their restaurant doors, they’ve had to think outside the box.

Adapting quickly in these ever-changing times they have created a weekly five-course degustation menu designed to be cooked and enjoyed at home with your loved ones.

There’s no need to worry if you don’t fancy yourself a cook, most of the prep has been done in The Deck’s kitchen so all you’ve got to do in turn on an oven or oil up a fry pan.

Every Saturday from 5pm, owner Matt Dillow (with the help of his videographer daughter) will cook each dish alongside you, virtually of course. Going live on Facebook each hour, he will guide you through how to cook and plate up a restaurant quality dish.

Using fresh produce and high-quality protein, the weekly changing menu will see you cook dishes like USA Scallops with Morcilla Sausage and Maple Glazed Pork Belly on French Toast. Trust us, you’ll feel like a chef, and after 5 rounds, you’ll be cooking like one too.

If you (like us) love a good wine pairing, they’ve got you covered. Each menu collaborates with a local winery so you can enjoy the full experience. From a crisp Chardonnay to robust Shiraz, you’ll definitely get your Hunter Valley wine fix.

For dessert, you’ll be treated by a tasting plate from another Hunter Valley local, Sabor Dessert Bar. To get your taste buds going, last week’s platter included Crunchy Chocolate Slice, Salted Caramel Mousse, Sticky Date Pudding, Chocolate & Raspberry Tart, and Black Forest Scheibe.

The Deck Café may be based in Lovedale, but the Degustation to your Door experience is available outside the Hunter Valley, with additional pick-up locations in Sydney, the Central Coast, Maitland and Singleton on Fridays and in Newcastle and Port Stephens on Saturdays.  So, you can enjoy the virtual cook up alongside your friends, no matter how near or far away they may be.
