After an arduous day of wine tasting Sabor in the Hunter can be a sweet little side step for those who love to indulge in decadent cakes and pastries or have a soft spot for the rich flavours of the cocoa bean. Located on Lovedale’s Wilderness Rd in the Hunter Valley, owners Fernando and Renata Antao have turned their love of cooking the sweet stuff into a full Dessert Bar experience.
It all began for Fernando and Renata as a wholesaling business, distributing their silky smooth Portuguese Chocolate Mousse and Rice Puddings around Australia. Called Casa de Sabor, or ‘House of Flavour’, their legion of mousse and pudding fans grew exponentially and before long their humble little recipe has become a nations staple. With such demand a need to expand the business became inevitable and so Sabor in the Hunter opened its doors.
With a dozen or more awards sitting on the shelf for their delicious mousse flavours it’s no surprise that much of the menu at Sabor in the Hunter features a lot of moussey treats.
Whether it’s white, milk or dark chocolate mousse, light mousse, whipped mousse or dense mousse you can sample the whole collection in the comfort of Sabor's gorgeous little cottage space.
There is more than just mousse to be had with the menu also featuring Mars Bar and Oreo Cookies & Cream cheesecakes, Tiramisu, Sabor Souffle, Sticky Date Pudding, Apple & Raspberry Crumble just to name a few. If you’re finding it hard to make a selection do as we did and order yourself a tasting plate to sample a whole range of Fernando’s delicious treats.
Of course a Dessert Bar in the Hunter Valley wouldn’t be complete without a selection of wines. Fernando and Renata have taken full advantage of their surroundings sourcing a selection of the Hunter Valley’s most notable wines, dessert wines, ports and liqueurs to perfectly match the flavours of your dessert.
