Gourmet Burgers In Cessnock

Stress no more! Marlene and Matthew have got you covered with Cessnock’s best burger-joint!

Conveniently located on the Main Street, Burger Fiend offers a wide range of gourmet burgers, loaded fries, onion rings, peanut butter thick shakes and even homemade fried apple pies!

If your mouth isn’t watering already then here’s a little teaser of the menu; fried chicken & bacon, crumbed mushroom & Swiss cheese, honey-sriracha glazed chicken breast with Asian slaw and if you fancy it, wagyu pastrami is on the menu too!

Burger Fiend opened its doors to the public back in July 2017, and the owners said the community’s response has been great and really supportive.

“Before we got here, Cessnock was really missing out on the burger scene,” Marlene tells me.

Indeed us lucky Novocastrians can enjoy a Rascal, Newy Burger Co, Good Time Burgers, Grill’d or Burger Urge whenever we want! But now everyone in the lower Hunter can devour a big old burger whenever they please too.

Co-owners and partners, Marlene and Matt have around 30 years of hospitality experience between them. But after years of cooking all the fancy things they really just love creating wacky burgers!

“We love burgers, just love burgers! They’re so fun, you can really play around with them and jazz them up.”

Originally the couple were looking to open up the burger joint in the Newcastle area. But after some consideration, they found a space in Cessnock that was much closer to home and they saw a gap in the market and thought, why not!

Their key concept is really to just deliver quality food to their local community. Providing quality and affordable food has given Cessnock a foodie alternative.

“We make the patties in house. We just slice and dice up whole slabs of meat and we don’t freeze anything at all. That’s why there is a limit to how many burgers we can serve each day as we try and cater and work towards minimal waste. We're all about good food and good service! So we only sell fresh products.”

The couple have been together for 10 years now and moved to the lower Hunter area for a new start and a fresh change. Mat from Camden and Marlene originally from Adelaide, they somehow managed to juggle a 3 month old in the move as they opened the Burger Fiend doors.

“We are really all about the community. We are community-based and absolutely everyone is welcome.”

So, if you're all about trying the best burgers in town, get on into Burger Fiend in Cessnock. You won't regret it.
