The ultimate Spanish-inspired escape in wine country
Set amongst the vineyards and gumtrees of the New South Wales Hunter Valley, luxury estate Tower Lodge has relaunched under the management and operations of its long-time family owners, Michael and Karen Hope.
Tower Lodge is designed as a warm and stylish family estate, where guests are welcomed as friends. Positioned in the heart of Pokolbin, the estate is an already a well-known property, with its Spanish-style architecture and rustic-refined interiors ideally suited to the region's warm summers and cool winters.
An easy, convivial vibe continues at the lodge, where good food and beverages, long lunches, lazy afternoons and decadent dinners are all on the menu.
The exclusive retreat is built in a modern Spanish mission style, featuring warm, earthy textures and colours that blend into the landscape. Handmade Mexican terracotta tiles line the floors, thick abode-rendered walls that catch the sunset over the Brokenback Range, high ceilings to soak up the summer sun, and open fireplaces to keep you warm in winter. The expansive premium Tower Suite also boasts a rooftop hot tub, plus a separate living room and a c1550 four-poster bed from Rajasthan.
Generous, sumptuous bathrooms feature marble bench tops, tiled walls and giant bathtubs, providing guests with the ultimate sanctuary.
Massive, ornate, late 19th-century French coach-house doors give entry to the retreat’s central hub, an enclosed courtyard paved with limestone, circling a dramatic fountain pond. Cloistered walkways framed by timber beams disappear toward suites and a labyrinth of spaces to explore.
A satellite pool, sauna and gardens offer guests options to leisurely explore the Hunter’s countryside, which comes complete with kangaroos appearing at sunrise and sunset to welcome and farewell the day.
Set under soaring wood ceilings with fans languidly circling above, the restaurant and its adjoining lounge are the venue for breakfast and long lunches, sunset drinks and canapes followed by an a la carte dining menu that’s designed both for sharing and more formal dining. Guests as well as visitors can enjoy lunch and dinner at the lodge.
