A perennial family favourite, this year’s Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular promises to be bigger and better than ever with new festive displays and experiences set to delight the whole family.
Date: 8 November 2019 – 26 January 2020
Where: Hunter Valley Gardens, Pokolbin
If you live in and around the Hunter, chances are you’ve heard of or have been to the Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular. It is after all; the largest lights display in the Southern Hemisphere. More than that though, the Lights are a truly magical evening out - the kind of must-do experience the whole family will remember.
As a local, the event, which is more like a festive festival, holds a special place on our family calendar and is something we all look forward to every year. Whether you’re a regular Lights-goer though or have never been, the 2019 event won’t disappoint. All the sparkly displays from last year’s event will be on show like the walk-through bauble (great for family photos), Hunter, the giant festive teddy bear, as well as enduring favourites Candyland, Fairyland and the Princess Castle.
This year’s Lights Festival will also feature some spectacular new displays. Pop over to ‘Lovers Corner’ for a stroll through the heart tunnel before sharing a kiss with your beloved under the Mistletoe. The new White Christmas scene, complete with snow-capped trees and a snow cave, is sure to be a popular addition.
In addition to checking out the three or so million lights on display, kids are also certain to dig the custom-built rides at the Gardens which are open during the school holidays. School-aged kids will love the super-slide, ferris wheel and swing-chair while the carousel and inflatables will appeal to the littlies.
Hands down one of the best things about the Christmas Lights Spectacular however, is that it runs all through January, finishing on Australia Day, meaning you can visit a few times or schedule your visit for after the busy Christmas period. If you do get the opportunity to go before Christmas though, make sure you visit Santa’s Workshop. The kids can write their letter to Santa and post it in the special Mailbox that goes directly to the North Pole. They’ll love getting their very own photobooth pics with the elves too!
With so many amazing displays, the Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular really is ‘where the magic happens'. For more information and ticketing options, visit Hunter Valley Gardens. Tickets are undated and valid for use between 8 November 2019 until the 26 January 2020.
TIP: For the best value, purchase an Annual Pass for year-round access to the Gardens and all the great events they hold throughout the year. With an Annual Pass you can see the Lights and other school holiday special events as many times as you like. A good option to keep the tribe entertained!
