Panoramic views over Hawkesbury River with relaxed accommodation at The Boathouse
Patonga has long been a standalone destination on the Central Coast and the latest reinvigoration of the iconic Patonga Hotel by The Boathouse Group has only increased its appeal. Whilst there has been many a reincarnation of this once-illegally built establishment over the years, and an evolving relationship with the local community, there have been limited options for anyone wishing to stay a little longer in this idyllic location.
The Boathouse Group now has just the remedy - 3 beautifully appointed apartments (with the option of 1 Bed, 2 Beds, or 3 Beds) above the hotel itself, in addition to the stunning Patonga Cottage that sits freestanding next to the hotel. As with all of the Boathouse Group projects, Pip Goldsmith is the interior designer behind these coastal chic dwellings and they are as aesthetically beautiful as they are practical.
Family is never far from the design ethos of Pip’s, with all the spaces being family-friendly and having an abundance of space with comfortable furniture and fittings that make you feel right at home. The bathrooms are well-sized, with thoughtful details of natural light, and the type of toweling that gives you that warm hug feeling.
It helps that the apartments host stunning natural stone kitchens, basic cooking equipment, and bespoke crockery in tonal hues of green that you would not expect in a holiday rental. However, let’s not forget this is a Boathouse Group project and all the details are curated to elevate your experience and make it uniquely special. If you really love the crockery and soft furnishings, there’s a selection you can buy through The Boathouse Store across the bay.
With all 3-apartments boasting generous balconies with panoramic coastal views, you can indulge in spending hours letting the day pass you by, from watching the comings and goings at the wharf, or small fishing boats exploring the bay, to the ever-changing shadows being thrown by the luscious natural surroundings you are sitting in. From up here on a clear day (which are most!) you can make out the hustle and bustle happening on Sydney’s Palm Beach. Let’s not forget, from here it is no more than a 40-minute ferry ride across the bay.
Another key feature of the vast apartments is that they are perfect for special events and functions, whether you’re hosting an intimate dinner, cocktail party, or even a corporate launch with the hotel being able to provide catering to suit your every need.
If you are keeping the stay leisure orientated then make sure you take advantage of having food delivered from downstairs, so you absolutely make the most of the sunset evenings from the balcony. All the apartments have off-street parking available to them - another essential detail making your stay easy.
A quick 90 minutes car journey from Newcastle and Sydney alike is a small price for the timeless escapism that the coastal village of Patonga and the surrounding Brisbane Water National park offers in return.
The relaxed nature of not just the location but the accommodation allows you to choose where you explore, whether that’s hiking part of the Great Northern Walk, trying your hand at fishing, catching the ferry to Palm Beach for the day, or taking prime position in one of the many comfortable bespoke armchairs on offer and getting lost in the pages of a great novel whilst the coastal breeze brushes over you.
The Boathouse Apartments Patonga are the coastal chic destination that makes summer holiday dreams a glorious reality.
