Shop handmade and vintage treasures in Long Jetty
Due to Covid restrictions Sorry Grandma Shop is currently closed to visitors, you can however check out everything in the online store.
When it comes to retail it’s not often that you stumble across a store that is so unique you just don’t want to leave.
Sorry Grandma Shop in Long Jetty has you intrigued from the moment you step inside with its floor to ceiling collection of handmade and vintage treasures.
Skye Hicks is the talented, multitasking queen behind this gorgeous store. Sourcing the complete collection of retro fabrics, quirky accessories, those fab granny blankets and homewares that take you back to the ’60s and ’70s, Skye is also the creator and hand maker of the extensive children’s clothing range.
Honing her hand-making skills with a girls label, it wasn’t until Skye had her son that she decided to start doing a mixed range of both girls and boys clothes. In 2017 Skye decided it was time to open up a shop front finding a spot on The Entrance Road Long Jetty saying,
“I first opened Sorry Grandma Shop just up the road from here and I was there for three years but when I had to leave that space in 2019, I took the shop online for 6 months.”
“Then last year when I was driving down The Entrance Rd one day I noticed the for lease sign in the window of this shop. I love Long Jetty and that’s when I decided to reopen a retail space which I did in May 2021.”
Sorry Grandma Shop has built itself a solid base of fans who appreciate Skye’s attention to detail and quality fabrics as well as her innate talent for hunting down classic and hard-to-find vintage treasures.
“Most of my clients come into the store, they come from Sydney and Newcastle, everything is online but the shop is always the busiest.”
“It’s getting harder now to source quality vintage but I’ve been doing it long enough now that I know where to go.
When asked about what her best sellers are Skye explains,
"Aside from the Sun Jelly baskets there isn't anyone product that sells out faster than the other, each Wednesday I restock the shop and literally everything always goes."
So if you happen to be on the hunt for something a little granny-chic like, some vintage and retro fabrics, gorgeous kids clothes or perhaps some vintage cups and saucers then you really need to take a visit to Sorry Grandma Shop.
