Healthy grab-and-go takeaway makes fast food fresh in Ettalong
If you love eating out, can’t be bothered cooking, or just need a quick grab-and-go meal but don’t want to compromise your healthy eating, Innerglow Kiosk has you covered as it fulfills its mission of making fast food fresh.
Innerglow began as an online juice business which owner Tira Macgregor took over 5 ½ years ago. A hair and makeup artist by trade with 20 years in TV and advertising, Tira initially took on the business as a side project until lockdown saw her makeup work stop, and the idea for a physical Innerglow cafe was born.
Tira noticed the gap in the takeaway market for healthy, plant based grab-and-go options on the Coast, made with fresh locally sourced ingredients, something she loved from the health food and elixir bars of Sydney and Byron Bay.
“I wanted to communicate something I didn’t see on the Coast, which was that takeaway doesn’t have to be junk food or heavy dishes."
"People can also be a bit scared of plant based food because they think it’s bland or boring, so I wanted to show people that it can be tasty and yummy.”
Growing up Tira’s mum was an avid grower and had the kids eating seasonally from their own produce, so she has always been drawn to a vegetarian diet, healing the body with plants, and sharing healthy food with other people.
Innerglow Kiosk opened in Ettalong in December 2020, warmly welcomed by the locals and day trippers from around the Coast or across the water on the Northern Beaches.
Ettalong has experienced a similar boost of street cred and good food as that found further north in Long Jetty, and in 2022 the second kiosk opened in Gosford as another up-and-coming area of commercial growth with little variety of healthy food options.
The small yet mighty menu at Innerglow is intentional being a grab-and-go cafe and has helped cement the kiosk as a go-to spot that is reliable for regulars.
“My vision was to start slow and do the things we do really really well, rather than go massive and not be able to cope. I add things to the menu that I really love and know are in season. We have created some incredibly popular menu items that people just keep coming back for.” says Tira.
Those most popular items include the Glow Bowl of overnight oats with granola and fresh fruit, the cheese cherry tomato chutney toasted sandwich, and the felafel Nourish Bowls.
The food and smoothies sit beside the original fresh cold pressed juices on which Innerglow began all those years ago. Juices are pressed 3 times a week and delivered, with a range of specially designed cleanses available.
A range of take-home heat-and-eat bowls are coming so you can get your fix any time of day or even order your meals online for delivery.
