A Sweet Sensation

"A doughnut needs to be big, juicy, fluffy with heaps of delicious filling, they need to be an overload of flavour,”

is how Emma Peat of Daily Dough Co. describes her sweet sensations that are one of the hottest commodities on the Central Coast at the moment. And my golly, do they deliver on that vision!

In a few short months, Emma has gone from selling doughnuts via her Instagram page to friends and previous clients of her celebration cakes, to opening her first store at Wyong Milk Factory. A regular feature of her new venture is a queue outside, a feature that will surely be a theme at her second store opening in Terrigal in a few weeks.

The doughnut flavours are choc a bloc and are exactly what you want when you commit to that indulgence – pure satisfaction and they taste as good as they look.  Emma has somehow perfected a large fluffy doughnut that is balanced in sweetness and dough density, fulfilling all cravings and tempting you to try just one more. Well, maybe one more box full. 

You see on any given day Daily Dough Co. has 12 flavours on offer. All are made on site every day and everything is made from scratch - custards, icings, glaze and most importantly those fresh fluffy doughnuts.

Emma describes one of their best sellers, the Nutella doughnut, as “quite literally a Nutella overload.” What else is leading the pack? Well, that would be the OG&M and Crème Brule! This is purely because the ever-popular Pineapple Glaze doughnut is currently out of action due to the struggle of sourcing the flavour. 

So, whilst the pineapple is getting restocked, Maple Bacon anyone?  Or Cookies and Cream, Jam filled or, if you are more of a doughnut traditionalist, they have Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla glaze to quench the craving.

For the gluten or vegan readers drooling over treasures they cannot enjoy, think again! Since the beginning, Emma has been creating loaded cookies. Large cookies stuffed with gooey goodness, that make you want to buy a second just to split it open all over again. 

The Lotus cookie is 100% vegan and filled with…lotus (which, if like me, you didn’t know what Lotus is – it’s gingerbread cookie butter and addictive!). The gluten-free offering is a chunky chocolate brownie that does not disappoint.

If you are not the type to line up – be sure to order online, with pick-up and delivery options available.  There are also the custom doughnut options or the in-demand dessert boxes that are super indulgent and the ultimate gift for that someone with a sweet tooth.

This 19-year-old entrepreneur (oh, did I mention this kick-arse women is only 19?!) is inspired by American styled doughnuts and an expert in putting her vision into action. Emma knows who her supporters are with her Mum, Simone, working in the shop - Simone allowed Emma to take over the house kitchen when she was finding her feet. Now with her family behind her and the team established, they are all bringing Emma’s sweet, sweet vision to life for all of us to enjoy!
