The story behind Bombini is not a complicated one.
Owners Cameron & Hayley, whose lives have revolved around food and wine, decided just days before their wedding day to take another leap of faith and open their own restaurant. With a beautiful beachside Avoca acreage on the market, it was too good an opportunity to let slide, even if it meant missing their own honeymoon.
With the name Bombini deriving from the tribal name “bumblebee” Cameron & Hayley, both formerly of ‘Manfredi at Bells’ – the on-site restaurant at five star boutique resort, Bells at Killcare, wanted the ethos of the bees natural way of life to flow throughout the restaurant.
The menu is modern Italian, with Cameron hand-selecting some of Australia’s best produce and the daily a la carte menu featuring antipasto, house-made pasta, bread and gelato. You also have the option to select some more substantial dishes such as the grilled seafood and shellfish, Burrawong Gaian farm chickens, Roast Flinders Island suckling lamb and Victorian dry-aged grass fed rib sirloin.
The Bombini mood is bright and relaxed; a yellow and white playful Queenslander style cottage set on 2-acres of land with vegetable and fruit gardens, beehives and chickens taking up much of the space. You'll also find an on-site bar serving signature cocktails and a diverse wine list that includes a broad bio-dynamic wine selection.
Bombini always has something interesting going on, with some of their regular events including: Pasta Night, the Sunday Roast, Cooking Schools and Bombini Pizza which can be enjoyed in the sub-tropical-esque alfresco undercover bar and entertaining area.
