For those unfamiliar with a High Tea it's basically this: scones, cakes, sandwiches, quiches, and endless amounts of tea.

I always feel so sophisticated when I High Tea, it's like going to a classy event like the polo but instead of watching sport you sit there chatting with friends and eating a whole lot of food.

And in most High Tea situation a glass of champers is often included!

The Autumn Rooms

Ducks in the Field
This was one of my first High Tea experiences and what ultimately led me to falling in love with the experience. Ducks in the Field is a quirky and colourful high tea, just a short drive from Morpeth.

Residing on a quaint property in Duckenfield, guests are treated to a glass of house-made punch, a starter, three different stands, a sorbet, a pana cotta and an option of tea or coffee with the last stand of sweets.

Offering BYO and a menu changing seasonally. Ducks in the Field is the perfect venue for a special occasion such as birthdays, a hens party or baby shower.

Rydges
Previously known as The Crowne, Rydges in Newcastle is the perfect harbourside location where you can escape the cold air, allowing the sun to shine through.

Coco Monde
With a speciality in chocolate you already know the High Tea at Darby Street's Coco Monde is going to be good.

Not only is there a glass of champagne on arrival but also a beautiful Belgian Chocolate Coated Strawberry for each guest!

The two course High Tea offers delicious a variety of savoury and sweet stands.

Heritage Gardens High Tea
At the end of 2017 The Heritage Gardens Nursery opened the Heritage Gardens Tea House, a secluded private space just next to the café, overlooking a cute cottage garden.

The Heritage Gardens' High Tea is a traditional three-tier High Tea starting with a glass of fruit punch, followed by finger sandwiches, hot savouries, freshly baked scones (with jam and cream), petit fours and tea or coffee. Every tier is delectable, immaculately presented and very filling!

With a backdrop of sparkling blue water, golden sands and endless blue skies, you'll have never experienced a High Tea quite like the Anchorage.
