Delicious food and coffee in Nelson Bay
The name, Little Nel, is somewhat deceiving, as this cafe isn’t little on anything– it’s got a big delicious menu, full of big healthy options, big flavours, big bold Suspension coffee and a big sunny outdoor resort-style deck.
Situated in the Nelson Bay town centre just up the hill underneath The Nelson Resort, this unassuming cafe could easily be overlooked by many passers-by.
If you’ve ever checked out this café of Instagram you’ll know what I’m talking about when I say; that their dishes are mini works of art, that look almost too good to eat. But don’t be put off, it’s not fine dining. Little Nel has generous portions, lots of healthy options and SO MUCH colour!
Sourcing lots of local Port Stephens produce and preparing nearly everything from scratch on site, is what sets The Little Nel apart from the competition. Their breakfast menu is huge, and makes it super hard to select which dish to have, from the simple avo on toast, through to the extravagant crispy sambal pavé. They do everything so well, including the coffees.
For lunch, we had the pleasure of devouring the glazed miso chicken salad with mango and green papaya, along with the pan-fried salmon with roasted fennel (both pictured). They were both bursting with flavour, thanks to the freshest ingredients.
